That’s why your makeup and hair trial is paramount to the process - so that you can relax and focus on enjoying your day with your love.
We know you’re a busy bride with plenty to manage, so we wanted to share some helpful tips on how to prepare for your makeup and hair trial (and for the big day, too!).
How to Prepare for Your Makeup Trial
Whether it’s a soft, elegant look, or a little more dramatic, our makeup team knows how to give you a look that radiates confidence and beauty. We know you’ll already be glowing as you walk down the aisle toward your partner, and the perfectly executed makeup style will enhance the natural beauty that you are. Here are a few things you’ll want to do to be prepared for your makeup trial and wedding day.
Have inspiration photos ready for your makeup look. It helps to have an idea of style - such as classic, timeless, radiant or more dramatic.
Keep in mind what you’re comfortable with and how heavy of a makeup look you want.
Arrive at your appointment with a clean face. No need to worry about adding moisturizers, primers, etc. - we will take care of all of it! Our professional products will prepare your skin and keep you looking flawless all day long.
When it comes to your own makeup, there is no need to bring anything along as we have it all for you. However, if you have a favourite lipstick colour that you love to wear and know you’ll want to touch it up throughout the day, feel free to bring it along. If you don’t have a favourite, we can help you choose the perfect match for you.
If you’re wanting an airbrushed makeup look, we have airbrush options available at your trial for a small additional cost. Let us know if you plan on adding this at the time of booking so we can add this to your package.
If false lashes are a desired part of your makeup look, we have them available to try at your trial for a minimal additional cost. Let us know if you plan on adding this at the time of booking so we can add this to your package.
How to Prepare Your Hair
We are experts when it comes to working with all different hair types and styles, and we know the perfect conditions to make your hair look perfect on your day. Here are some tips to prepare your hair so that we can perfect your look for your wedding.
Look for hair inspiration photos with hair that is similar to yours. While it might seem obvious, it’s important to find photos for hair that is similar in length, cut, texture, etc. Have those photos of your favourite looks handy so that your stylist can get a glimpse of your vision. It can also be helpful to communicate any styles that we should steer clear of to get a clearer sense of what you dislike. Our website gallery is a great place to start.
Wash and dry your hair the night before - it makes your hair easier for us to work with and usually holds the style better as well. Avoid using any product in your hair between your wash and your appointment.
Please do not come with wet hair. While it might feel fresh and clean, having to dry it during your appointment will take away valuable time from the actual styling portion.
Bring your veil and any hair accessories you might be using. If you are using fresh flowers as a part of your look, try to find a temporary piece for your trial or bring along a photo of your floral inspiration. Having these elements will help us bring your wedding vision to life and complete the look.
If you are using hair extensions as a part of your wedding hairstyle, have them ready to go for your appointment to maximize your time. Hair extension application can be included for a small additional fee.
Other Tips for Your Trial
Bring other photos to help your stylist capture the look you're going for - whether it’s a photo of you in your dress, pictures of the venue, flowers, colours, etc., all of these elements can help us get a better idea of the feel of your day.
It’s okay to come alone, but if you’re a person who welcomes the feedback of a trusted friend, try to limit it to one or two people. There is a delicate balance of having others’ input and feeling overwhelmed by too many opinions. Be honest with yourself about what you can handle.
Speak your mind. If something isn’t right - please tell us. It’s your big day and it’s our job to ensure you are glowing and confident in your look. As we do your makeup and hair for your trial, or the wedding day, communicate with us.
We are so excited to be working with you and elevating your natural beauty on the most important day of your life! If you have any questions leading up to your trial or wedding day, feel free to contact us.
